Picture this: you're sipping espresso in Nice, open your Uber app like you've done a hundred times, and suddenly you're sailing along the Cote d'Azur instead of sitting in traffic. That's the idea behind Uber's latest move, and it launches across the Mediterranean this summer.
Starting mid-June 2026, Uber is teaming up with Click&Boat, a platform that manages roughly 55,000 vessels worldwide, to bring boat rentals directly into the Uber app. Forget licensing requirements or sailing experience. Each booking includes a professional skipper, so you show up, step aboard, and enjoy the water.

How This Actually Works
The mechanics are simple. Open Uber, browse curated boat experiences, book one, and you're done. Click&Boat's head office describes it plainly: "For the first time, boating becomes part of everyday mobility. No license needed, no experience required. A skipper on board, the exact same prices as on Click&Boat, and the same high standards on every boat."
The app lets you choose from themed outings: sunset sails, water sports adventures, seaside appetizers, or day trips to secluded coves that most tourists never find. It's the kind of flexibility that turns a random afternoon into a memory worth talking about for years.
Daily rentals with a skipper run from 250 to 3,000 euros, depending on the boat size and destination. Uber One members get a 10 percent credit boost on top of that. The exact pricing matches what Click&Boat charges directly, so you're not paying a premium for app convenience.
Where You Can Actually Go
The service rolls out to 23 coastal cities across France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Croatia. That includes Split, Dubrovnik, Saint-Tropez, Nice, Mallorca, Barcelona, and Ibiza. If you're already planning a Mediterranean getaway, there's a solid chance your destination made the list.
Daily rentals are the most popular format among boaters anyway. A single day on the water gives you enough time to explore without the commitment of a multi-day charter, and it's the sweet spot for actually relaxing instead of juggling logistics.
This Isn't Uber's First Boat Rodeo
Uber has tested water travel before. In 2020, they launched Uber Boat by Thames Clippers in London, which serves 24 piers and costs from 6.20 pounds per trip. That service still runs today and works with Oyster Card holders. Uber also previously offered Uber Yacht in Ibiza, Greece, and Venice, though those services have since disappeared.
The 2024 Paris Olympics gave them a test run too. Uber and Click&Boat offered free one-hour Seine cruises on electric boats, no cost to passengers. It worked well enough that they clearly felt confident scaling up.
What This Means for Summer Travel Planning
If you're heading to the Mediterranean this summer, flight prices are already climbing. Adding water-based activities through your existing travel app is at least one less hassle. You don't need a separate platform, another payment method, or endless research into which boat company is trustworthy.
Uber is clearly pushing beyond rides and hotels. They already partnered with Expedia to add hotel bookings, and water transport feels like the logical next step. The company is betting that travelers want everything in one place, and so far, the gamble seems to be working.
Whether you're chasing sunsets in Dubrovnik or island-hopping near Barcelona, this service removes a genuine friction point from trip planning. That alone makes it worth keeping an eye on.
